Certificate Course on Urban–Rural Integration and Sustainability (CURIS)

8 April – 23 May 2026 | The Chinese University of Hong Kong

Hong Kong’s first certificate course dedicated to urban–rural integration, sustainable development, and rural revitalisation, co-organised by CUHK School of Architecture, SPUR, and Wu Zhi Qiao Charitable Foundation.

 

The 50-hour programme features:
Expert-led lectures on ESG, planning, placemaking, and sustainability
Field trips across Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Kaiping/Jiangmen
• Engagement with villagers, planners, conservationists, and stakeholders
• A cross-sector teaching team of 20+ practitioners and scholars

 

Course Highlights:

  • Northern Metropolis field studies (San Tin, Long Valley, Ho Sheung Heung)
  • Sha Tau Kok / Lai Chi Wo / Kat O cultural landscape visits
  • GBA extension to Kaiping’s Tangkou Town
  • Multidisciplinary perspectives across policy, planning, environment, and community

 

Programme Details:
• Dates: 8 April – 23 May 2026
• Duration: 50 hours, 11 weekly evening sessions (including weekend field trips)
• Tuition: HKD 13,500; Application fee HKD 150
• Scholarship: Up to HKD 5,000 for eligible youth (sponsored by the Lee Hysan Foundation)
• Language: English (supplemented by Cantonese & Putonghua)
