HKIUD GBA Urban Design Tour After the International Conference on 19 March, HKIUD arranged an Greater Bay Area urban design tour on last Saturday (21 March), and visited two projects that won the HKIUD Greater Bay Area Urban Design Awards (Grand Award) in 2020 and 24. The first one is Urban Acupuncture - The Renewal And Reconstruction Of Juzikeng Village in Shenzhen. This project has revitalized the aging public spaces and infrastructure of the urban village (城中村), and rejuvenated the community. The second award project is Central Area of Dongguan Ecological Park, which was severely polluted during the rapid urbanization of the Pearl River Delta in the 1970s to 1980s The project has successfully reversed and restored the neglected and polluted land into an eco-friendly industrial park and popular recreation area. We also visited the 南社明清古村落before heading back to HK.
