HKIUD Kuk Po Tour on 31 May 2025 (Sun)(只有英文版本)
We are pleased to invite you to the next HKIUD Kuk Po Tour on 31 May 2025 (Sun).
Situated amidst the rural landscapes of Hong Kong’s Sha Tau Kok, Kuk Po preserves large area of mangrove wetlands and traditional Hakka settlements. Since 2020, the project team carried out a series of design and research studies on the conservation and revitalization for Kuk Po Village. Built upon a shared theme “Kuk Po Vision”, the study covers from surveys of architecture and landscape through the engagements with communities, highlights the design strategy of Point - Line – Network, adopting measures of Acupuncture, Adaptive-reuse and Addition. By activating a series catalyst architecture, the design demonstrates varies design interventions for Kuk Po including the shaping of Kai Choi School Plaza, the renovation of Kuk Po Common, the establishment of Art KukPo program, the construction of Eco-toilet, and the reconstruction of Ruin Garden. The project demonstrates the significance of research and building processes in design, addressing type, fabric, tectonic and tactile, as well as landscape, community, and their social processes, for the conservation and revitalization in Hong Kong’s rural villages.

10:00 - Departure from Sha Tau Kok Pier (or meet 10:15 at Kai Choi School)
10:15-11:00 - Visit Kai Choi School, Kuk Po Common, and Kai Choi Plaza
11:00-11:15 - Refreshment of local tofu fa (dessert)
11:15-11:45 - Visit Eco-Toilet, San Wai, arrive Lo Wai
11:45-12:30 - Visit Lo Wai and the Ruin Garden
12:30-12:50 - Back to Kuk Po Pier
12:50-13:00 - return to Sha Tau Kok, or                                                              
13:00- 14 :00 - explore Kuk Po (optional)

* Participants are required to apply the Tourism Closed Area Permit if they took the ferry from Sha Tau Kok Pier.*

Minimum 20 participants and 10 participants taking the Ferry from Sha Tau Kok Pier are required. Otherwise the tour will be cancelled.
