Cities are radically rethinking traditional approaches to urban mobility on the back of Covid disruption, technological revolution, and climate emergency, whilst also trialing new methods of regulation, implementation and financing. Mobility uses have formed the backbone of urban realm space allocation for decades, yet that is changing as urban dwellers demand healthier, better quality, and more equitable urban environments, along with systems and networks more responsive to meet the expectations of net zero. Integrating more innovative approaches to urban mobility needs to form the critical part of reshaping the city. The seventh HKIUD Conference acts to share policy and technology thinking in this disrupted space and explores how the coming approaches to new mobility will shape the urban realm and are critical to the health and viability of the future city.
