The webinar covered four award-winning projects from the 2022 GBA Urban Design Awards, “Phase II Development of Oil Street Art Space” and “Lung Mei Beach Bathhouse” by Mr. Thomas WAN and Mr. William Tsang of Architectural Services Department, HKSAR, “Shenzhen Mangrove Museum & Surrounding - Urban Ecological Corridor Urban Design” by Mr. Chen WEI of Urban Planning & Design Institute of Shenzhen. Also, “Water Resilience Based Urban Redevelopment: Pailao River Blueway” by Mr. Hao WAN of Deputy General Manager and Design Director, Shenzhen Hope Design Co. Ltd, by Mr. Yi Yu Business Manager of the Chinese market, VenhoevenCS architecture+urbanism Architects and Planning Office, and Mr. Jiandong HU, director of No.1 Landscape Architecture Design Branch of HDEC of Power Construction Corporation of China LTD.

Synopsis
Urban designers need to be able to develop skills across a variety of planning and design horizons: from masterplanning the city to small scale urban intervention. Creating humanscale environments is essential at all scales as well considered landscape integration is an essential tool in creating healthy, attractive and liveable environments.
In the last session of our GBA webinar series, we will invite the representatives of four award-winning projects in Hong Kong and Shenzhen to introduce and explain their use of urban design techniques in creating ‘urban oases’ from the macro to micro scales.
