Vice President (Local Policies) Vincent Ng, Public Affairs Committee (PAC) Chairman Ivan Ho, PAC Members Donald Choi, Oren Tatcher, Conference Organising Committee Member Laurence Liauw, CW Ho, Full Member Zhidong Chen and Gabriel Yu attended the “Dialogue with CE Candidates - Visions on HK Urban Development” on 9 December 2011 in HKU.

Two Questions raised by HKIUD were selected as the topics for the Candidates’s opening remarks.

Q1: What is your vision for improving the quality of urban design?

Q2: Hong Kong is a high density city. How will you integrate quality urban design into the framework of policies and strategies for Hong Kong as a financially viable, environmentally sustainable and socially beneficial city?”

Ivan Ho represented HKIUD asked the first as a follow up question on the opening remarks of each Candidates and also the last question to wrap up each session as follow:

If you are elected as CE, how will you structure the HKSARG such as appointing a CE2, or vice CE to overall monitoring and implementing the good urban design and development for Hong Kong in the years to come.

HKIUD, Hong Kong University and Peking University, School of Urban Planning and Design co-hosted a public lecture on 21 November 2011. The Lecture Topic was “To Create City’s Value – The Practice of Urban Design and Architecture Design in China” by Prof. Chen Keshi - Professor, Peking University

Meeting with Young Urban Designers on 9 November 2011

HKIUD and the Hong Kong Institute of Planners (HKIP) organized a joint Institutes Seminar on 27 October 2011. The theme of the Seminar was Shared Space: reconciling people, places and traffic.

President Prof. Bernard V. Lim was invited to hold the “Master Class Workshop” for the FuturArc Forum 2011 organized by the FuturArc on 20 October 2011 at the Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong. The theme of the Master Class Workshop was “Process and Performance – Understanding how Green buildings are created and why they perform” to showcase the latest development and technologies bridging the gap between green building and mainstream architecture.

HKIUD and Hong Kong Interior Design Association (HKIDA) organized a Professional Roundtable Discussion on 7 Octoberber 2011. Mr. Christ Law was invited as guest speaker.
